Acorn Bed and Breakfast in CT, built in 1975 , is set back from the road on two acres and surrounded by large , stately oak trees.The lovely Cape Cod style home features front and back porches , an ornate cooking range in the kitchen , a dining room featuring Old Hickory furniture , a living room with fireplace , two cozy guest rooms , both with private bath , and antiques throughout. Each morning the Acorn provides a continental breakfast .The innkeepers have "spared no detail" , tells the Hartford Courant.Newsday Travel featured Acorn Bed and Breakfast in its "Inn of the Week"column.

The setting for Acorn Bed and Breakfast is rural , yet convenient to fine restaurants , antique shops , beaches , summer and winter theaters , and more. Within easy driving distance are canoeing , golf , hiking , fishing , shopping , and downhill or cross-country skiing.Things to do on site include shopping for antiques , and taking advantage of the in-ground pool or year round hot tub/spa. For additional entertainment , Hartford , New Haven , and New London CT, as well Ledyard are all near by. Killingworth is known for the poem The Birds Of Killingworth by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Enjoy quiet relaxation away from the maddening crowds. Yet twenty minutes to beaches , activities and fine restaurants. No traffic problems here , only a leisurely beautiful drive on scenic Route 148.

• Carole and Richard are both retired. Carole was a clinical social worker and nurse, Richard a High School science teacher.
• Your hosts have six cats ; Tuffy, Chipper, Miss Kitty , Blacky, Whitey, and Boo the new kid (kitten) on the block.

• The Geographic region is South Central Connecticut in southern New England, midway between New York and Boston. Connecticut, the Nutmeg state has a wide variety of things to do with something for everyone. A patchwork quilt of gently rolling hills and mountains; with postcard perfect small towns connected by scenic winding roads. There are major art museums, theaters, casinos, and reminders of history.
